Hear from some amazing and inspiring messages about how important it was for people to get access to these accessible tickets and what it did for their lives.
I was lucky enough to receive free tickets to Jesus Christ Superstar, and I can’t even begin to express how much that meant to me and my family. Live theatre has a way of moving your soul, and YES Theatre always delivers something special – but being gifted the chance to experience such a powerful production, for free, speaks volumes about their commitment to this community. Jesus Christ Superstar was electric, emotional, and unforgettable. From the phenomenal cast to the stunning production every moment left me in awe. Thank you YES Theatre – for your generosity, your artistry, and your belief that everyone should have access to the magic of live performance. You’ve made this summer a little more inspiring, and a lot more joyful. I’m beyond grateful, and I can’t wait to cheer you on from the audience again soon!
I utilized the free initiative for my parents who are retired seniors and really wanted to see the play. Being that they weren’t too strong on the computer, I got them tickets and printed it out for them. My Mom was ecstatic and could not believe her luck, she had wanted to go so badly. I think this initiative is absolutely amazing. The quality of the show is superb, which I was able to see the week before. We are huge fans of Yes, and love that there is recognition that not everyone is capable of enjoying the play at the same rate. I also see that sometimes there is a pay what you can, that is another kind gesture. Trust that we will continue patronizing Yes theatre and thank you for thinking of everyone.
I attended the free-for-all Midnight Summer’s Dream, and it was spectacular. Although the weather was a bit too warm, it was well worth it. Perhaps in the future, a calm evening show could provide a new perspective on outdoor gatherings. I used the free-for-all tickets for my family, who haven’t experienced much of the arts in the city and wanted to show them the wonderful performances you provide, especially in a new space like the Refettorio on Durham St (it was my first time too; all my previous shows were at the Sudbury Theater). The tickets were a great way to introduce people who might have hesitations about the arts and Sudbury to a new experience, without worrying about cost. I was also able to bring my disabled brother, who usually can’t access activities like this, so it was wonderful for him to enjoy the arts without financial stress, especially given Canada’s current economy. Thank you again for the fantastic opportunity.
Thank you for the opportunity. I enjoyed Jesus Christ Superstar so much. It was a stellar performance that I’m not sure I would have been able to see without the FREE FOR ALL initiative.Even when theatre admission fees are within reach financially, the demands of busy lifestyles and tight budgets can make planning difficult for some. With FREEFORALL, I was able to embrace spontaneity and immerse myself in YES Theatre’s phenomenal performance of JCS free from the worry of admission fees.
Our family truly appreciates everything YES Theatre has done and is doing. The Freeforall initiative gave us the chance to bring our 3 daughters (8,10,&12) to experience both Midsummer and JCS last week. We also brought a family friend that had never attended a YES theatre show to JCS and they were surprised at the calibre of the performance. Having moved from southern Ontario they weren’t expecting a professional theatre experience in Sudbury. Our youngest daughter was able to see Midsummer and then this week be on the same stage through the YMCA performing arts camp. She immediately asked if we would sign her up for the YES theatre classes starting this fall. The performances are truly amazing and we really appreciated the freeforall offer. While we often buy tickets to shows and the prices are DEFINITELY worth it, it’s not always in the budget to bring them to every show. Thank you for the offer and everything you are doing for the arts in Sudbury!
Thank you for doing this Free For All initiative! You can include my name and my daughter’s name for this. As a single mom it can be difficult to budget to attend the theatre with my daughter. My daughter absolutely loves Jesus Christ Superstar. It was a thrill of a lifetime for her to attend YES Theatre’s fantastic production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Without the Free for All initiative, we wouldn’t have been able to witness such amazing talent and support our theatre community. Thank you YES Theatre!
I just wanted to sincerely thank you for the wonderful opportunity to attend A Midsummer Night’s Dream through the FREE FOR ALL ticket initiative. The performance was magical, full of energy and talent, and truly one of the most enchanting productions I have seen. Shakespeare’s humor and imagination came alive, and I left feeling uplifted. What made it more special was the accessibility, as I brought a friend who had not seen live theatre in a while. Seeing their joy was a reminder of theatre’s power to connect and transform. The FREE FOR ALL initiative gave us not just tickets, but a joyful shared experience and a deeper connection to our city’s cultural life. I believe this initiative is vital for bringing people together and strengthening our community. You have my full support and gratitude for this programming. Thank you for making a meaningful impact, and I hope the program continues to grow.
Thank you so much for this offer! Unfortunately the timeframe was too short notice and didn’t end up being able to find someone to join for the theatre so I returned the tickets in to the front desk. I would very much love to go at sometime in the future and is on my wish list in case this offer comes up again ! Many thanks to this incredible team and very caring offer to our community!
The FREE FOR ALL ticket initiative was a great surprise. We weren’t sure we would make it to a Refettorio performance this summer, but the radio announcement encouraged us to attend. This allowed us to experience opening night of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and it was spectacular. The Ref offers an intimate, live performance outdoors where the artists are just a few feet away. It feels immersive and creates a strong sense of community. YES consistently brings innovative, high-quality shows to Sudbury, and we are impressed by the talent. The event renewed our interest in becoming season pass holders and highlighted the importance of supporting local theatre. This initiative can encourage more people to attend and even inspire participation. Thank you, YES Theatre, for this generous gift to Sudbury.
I used the FREE FOR ALL tickets to bring my wife Julie to see Jesus Christ Superstar for her 40th birthday. It was a last-minute decision and we were both blown away by the show. We love supporting local theatre, and YES always delivers. This initiative made it possible for us to celebrate together-thank you!
Thank you once again for the tickets. This initiative gave me insight to The Refettorio. I was unsure of the venue but now feel reassured after attending. Perhaps instead of 100% of free offerings a 2 for 1 deal can be good. It would be a win win for both the consumer and the theatre. You can also partner up with a downtown restaurant and have dinner and theatre passes. Another win, win, win.
We were patrons of Sudbury Theatre for 50 years, very satisfied but then it ended. We are following Yes theatre and went to some of your plays. Very enjoyable but we miss a good musical or comedy play as Sudbury theatre had. For the free for all , we took advantage of it to see Jesus Christ Super Star as we were going to get tickets for that weekend. We will be going to other plays in the future . It was a very good idea to get people to at least try theatre. Keep up the good work.
I would gladly share a one liner! … or two or three lol. I’ve always wanted to try the theatre, but never wanted to commit purchasing tickets .. just in case I didn’t like it. The free tickets was an opportunity for me to test it out and bring a skeptic with me. We left the night I awe of what Sudbury had to offer … yes Sudbury actually has an amazing theatre! I felt like I was taken away from my northern city.. I felt proud that I was sitting right in downtown Sudbury witnessing this amazing talent. Without the free tickets, I would of missed out on all of this amazingness. I can’t wait until I can purchase tickets a being a group with me! Thank you for giving me this opportunity to see the magic.
I attended my first performance at the Refettorio on July 25 and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The cast was excellent and the venue…wow! Intimate without feeling cramped. There is nothing like live theatre and your Shakespeare sang under the summer sun. I will definitely be going back, hopefully to another stellar version of the Bard of Avon’s classic works. It looked to me like the entire crowd enjoyed the show and I can guarantee it was the first theatre experience for at least one audience member (the baby behaved better than some adults I know!). The FREE FOR ALL giveaway seemed a hit. I hope YES Theatre can figure out a way to continue the initiative. Kudos to everyone involved. You’ve made a believer out of this guy.
I requested the free tickets so that I could bring a person I support to the show. I wanted to see if he would enjoy Shakespeare. As his intervenor, I can tell you that he enjoyed the action, the enthusiasm and energy of the performers. I certainly did as well. The show was very well done, I loved the modernization of setting while staying true to the script. I also appreciate the kindness of the volunteers handling the stage and doors. Everyone did a fantastic job bringing Shakespeare to downtown. Thanks again for making it possible to see the show.
I’m happy to provide feedback regarding your FREE FOR ALL promotion. I was very excited to see the email promoting the event in my inbox. And I was even more excited to be able to obtain two tickets – one for myself and one for a dear friend to attend Jesus Christ Superstar. It was a welcome night out, one that hadn’t happened in a long time it seems. Sometimes when one is in a fixed income it’s not easy to take in these things as often as we’d like. The play was exceptional, with SUCH talented performers. The music and the dancing were so very professional. My friend was also very grateful to be able to have a night out. I’m sure all the other attendees were happy to be able to attend a world class event, right here in our city as well. Thank you again for the opportunity to be able to attend a very enjoyable performance.
Thank you for creating space through the FREE FOR ALL initiative – it was a beautiful reminder that theatre can be a doorway, not just a destination. I had the privilege of reserving two tickets for individuals I knew would never have been able to attend on their own. Financial barriers, pride, and a sense of “that’s not for people like us” had kept them away from experiences like this for years. They walked into YES Theatre unsure… and walked out lit up. The show sparked conversations, emotions, and a feeling of belonging they hadn’t felt in a long time. One of them said afterward, “I didn’t know theatre could feel like that – like something for me.” This initiative wasn’t just about free tickets. It was about dignity, access, and the powerful role local theatre plays in healing and connecting our community. Thank you for believing in that.
A Free For All meant so much for us, as seniors who rely on a small pension. It meant we were able to attend a theatrical production, once again. Unfortunately, at the last minute, we weren’t able to attend but fortunately I was able to “gift” our free tickets to dear friends who were celebrating their wedding anniversary. That felt good for us. Thank you, YES Theatre.
I brought my sister & my friend who have both never been to a live show before. They were both amazed at the production. Keep Up the great work. I took advantage of the generous Free For All promotion to see Midsummer Night’s Dream with my daughter. We didn’t think we would enjoy Shakespeare but we were actually blown away. The acting was top notch and the production made the content and humour come alive. The theatre was full of young people who may be a different demographic due to financial constraints and I saw so many laughing, clapping and engaging with the material. This attempt of YES’s to make what is sometimes difficult language accessible to a wider range of audiences was wildly successful on the night I attended. You have converted this particular non-Shakespeare fan and I hope there will be another Shakespeare play in the Ref next year. I will definitely go.
Thanks to this giveaway, I was finally able to attend a Ref theatre show after wanting to go for years but never being able to afford it. Seeing A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the play that first inspired my love of theatre as a child, brought back wonderful memories because I once played Hermia. Now, as a teacher who helps run a middle school drama club with minimal funding, I found the set and costumes both inspiring and achievable. This experience renewed my passion for theatre and Shakespeare, and I am very grateful for the inspiration and the chance to share this joy with my community. Thank you for making theatre accessible and memorable again for me.
Attending the YES Theatre show through this accessibility initiative was incredibly meaningful. As a disabled person, it’s not always financially or logistically possible to attend live performances, even when you love theatre. This program made me feel genuinely included and valued as part of the audience. It’s a beautiful step toward removing barriers and showing that art is for everyone.
Having free access to the YES theatre performance was a great way to enjoy downtown with my husband and a friend who travelled from out of town. As much as we love hosting, things inevitably add up, and in this economy, that can sometimes put financial pressure on us. However, you want to entertain and show the best parts of what Sudbury has to offer. Being able to watch an excellent play without breaking the bank allowed all of us to really enjoy every moment of that experience together. Very grateful for the opportunity!
