It builds confidence and self-esteem, challenges an individual’s comfort level and breaks down social barriers. The STC Academy introduces participants of all ages and experience levels to the magic of theatre in a supportive, social, and non-threatening environment. Our classes are led by skilled and highly-trained instructors with extensive teaching backgrounds. Students are exposed to a wide range of games, exercises, and experiences that are tailored to any skill level. All classes end with a presentation for family and friends.

For Ages 6 and 7
This course lays the groundwork for budding performers in a playful exploration of creativity and fun. The classes encourage cooperation and creativity through theatre games, movement and vocal work. Participants use theatre exercises to learn about basic storytelling, stagecraft and physical and vocal expression.
$145 (includes HST) for a student’s first course of the school year
$130 (includes HST) for each subsequent course in the school year
Chelsea Papineau | Drama Instructor
Chelsea is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles. Her performances have taken her up and down the West Coast of the United States and all the way to Canada. Acting credits include Romeo and Juliet, Oklahoma! and Carousel. Her Sudbury Credits for Theatre Cambrian include Annie Get Your Gun and Beauty and the Beast. Chelsea’s training in voice, improvisation, dance and stage combat are an asset to her teaching.
April began her professional training by attending St. Lawrence College in their Musical Theatre Performance program, graduating in 2016. From September 2019 to October 2021, she attended the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she earned a Master’s degree in Musical Theatre Performance. April has performed locally in Sudbury for years with the Sudbury Theatre Centre and YES Theatre and directed STC’s Students on Stage production of Mining Rocks! in May 2022.
For ages 11+
This class offers students who have mastered some of the basics the opportunity to develop their performance skills through both theatre exercises and scripted scenes.

Class size limits: Playtime to 15 | Drama 25 | Musical Theatre 20. Classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
