The Apollo Restaurant was established in 1970 by George and Toula Sakellaris. George and Toula immigrated from small villages in southern Greece in the 1960s. As a newly married couple, they opened the Apollo on the Kingsway and introduced Sudbury to Greek cuisine; something that was not well known in the 1970s. It has since become famous for its homemade Greek specialties.
