This is an audition only program that gives participants an incredible experience diving into the world of professional theatre. Youth Artists will work with core YES Theatre company members to mount a full scale production that culminates in performances for schools and the public. They will learn the key skills and tools to become professionals in all areas of the craft including on and off stage positions.
For Students In Grade 7 And Up
The Young Company engages students in the process of creating a major theatrical production, culminating in a series of performances for parents and the community.
This program encourages participants to develop their performance abilities in acting, voice, and movement, and contribute to the creation of props, sets, and costumes. Recent productions include The Magic Pebble, Mining Rocks!, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan.

‘Waiting for Guffman’ meets ‘High School Musical’ – a hilarious backstage comedy from Dora-nominated writers Anika Johnson and Barbara Johnston.
When their annual musical is cancelled, a group of high school drama students decide to write one of their own – but to get the money they need from City Hall, it must be about something Canadian. The result? 'The Hadfield Follies: An Out of this World Journey Through the Life and Times of Astronaut Chris Hadfield’. On their way to opening night, this ambitious group of misfits learn about teamwork, tenacity, and the surprising parallels between high school drama and space exploration.

Rehearsals will be held on Sunday and Monday evenings from 5 to 8pm, starting on Sunday 3 FEB.
Production dates are 10 to 17 MAY 2024.

APRIL PERRIN | Director
April began her professional training by attending St. Lawrence College in their Musical Theatre Performance program, graduating in 2016. From September 2019 to October 2021, she attended the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she earned a Master’s degree in Musical Theatre Performance. April has performed in many productions with the Sudbury Theatre Centre and YES Theatre and directed STC’s Students on Stage productions of The Magic Pebble (2023) and Mining Rocks! (2022).
