Young Company

Discover. Develop. Play. Perform.

The Young Company, formerly known as Students on Stage program, has a legacy of training and building the next generation of great theatre artists in our community.

This is an audition only program that gives participants an incredible experience diving into the world of professional theatre. Youth Artists will work with core YES Theatre company members to mount a full scale production that culminates in performances for schools and the public.  They will learn the key skills and tools to become professionals in all areas of the craft including on and off stage positions.

Young Company

For Students In Grade 7 And Up

The Young Company is the next step in the evolution of our Students on Stage program. Over the last year and a half, we’ve been considering ways in which we can develop the next generation of artists and how we can make professional theatre experiences more radically accessible.

The intent of this renewed program is to place participants on a more direct trajectory to the professional company. This is for young people who are interested in the hard work and sense of community that can be experienced through a rigorous rehearsal and production process. It is for people who live and breathe theatre; those who want to challenge themselves and work with incredible mentors who will lead them on a journey that can enrich their future as artists.

2024 PRODUCTION – ONE SMALL STEP

When their annual musical is cancelled, a group of high school drama students decides to write one of their own – but in order to get the money they need from City Hall, it has to be about something Canadian. On their way to opening night, this ambitious group of misfits learns about teamwork, tenacity and the surprising parallels between high school drama and space exploration.

Production dates are 10 to 17 MAY 2024.
