Until we listen to the experts we will not be able to turn the horrific tide that has taken every Canadian city by storm. City Medicine was written with an understanding that though the homelessness crisis is not new, the collective effects of the pandemic and an increasingly poisoned drug supply has lead to the undeniable reality that every Canadian city is in a crisis of conscience.
The people who are the visual evidence of a collective failing, now demand our collective attention. The path forward will be built by all of us. City Medicine offers that, when we come out on the other side of this crisis, it is important that we be proud of how we met this moment. It is imperative that, as we navigate the path forward, we always reach for joy and a deep understanding of the inherent worth of every one of us. City Medicine offers many voices of those living on the margins as well those who are frightened that we won’t find our way through seemingly insurmountable odds.
